New Models For Annual Giving

Michigan A&B

It's not your father's annual fund anymore. Some tried-and-true methods of fundraising success from yesterday (including phonathon and direct mail) face increasing challenges today. At the same time, terrific new fundraising tools are creating whole new fundraising opportunities if you're smart enough to spot them.

For new annual giving professionals, or not-so-new professionals in search of an update, CASE Innovations in Annual Giving author and Crystal Apple Speaker Bob Burdenski presents a special CASE V pre-conference workshop all about the shifting paradigms in annual giving. Appreciated for his sharing of multimedia program examples from a range of educational institutions, Burdenski will show how institutions are adapting their old-fashioned goals to a multi-channel annual giving world.

Social Media and Community Online: The Big Picture for Educational Advancement

Sheraton II

Some aspects of social media aren't new at all. (Gossip, for example, has been around for quite a while!) Other aspects are totally unfamiliar to most. (Have you ever completed a "Foursquare check-in"?) Either way, your institution's students, alumni, parents and donors are using new tools and channels to communicate, connect and coordinate. This session gives advancement professionals an overview of the shifting landscape of social technologies and online community, with an emphasis on how we got here and where we're going. Interactive discussions and targeted presentations will help participants arrive at an understanding of how these new tools can support their institutional goals, while providing a road map for identifying and evaluating trends and changes coming in the years ahead.

Specific topics include: Debunking Social Media Myths; Measuring the ROI of Social Technology; Managing Community, Reputation and Influence Online; and Staffing and Budget for Social Media.
