Pre-Conference Workshop for Newcomers to the Field of Advancement

12-1:15 p.m. —Lunch and Keynote

New to the profession? Here's the prerequisite for the CASE V conference — and your career! This workshop cross-trains new professionals in all advancement disciplines (alumni relations, development, communications, advancement services, etc.) and provides tools to hit the ground running. Get ready to be charged up for your new career, profession and professional organization!

After lunch, take part in these programs:

1:30-2:30 p.m. — Nuts and Bolts of Advancement

Gain insight from a group of advancement professionals on the value of understanding and embracing the profession as a whole. This interactive session will allow you, as advancement leaders of tomorrow, to explore the intricate and sometimes challenging relationships between the various disciplines.

2:45-3:30 p.m. — Breakout Session One: New to Advancement or New Professional?

Pick one of the two areas that best suits you. Discussions will be hosted by leaders in the field.

  • New to Advancement: Have you been in the private sector or another career track at a university or nonprofit? This discussion will answer questions about your new career path.
  • Starting Your New Career: Designed for the recent graduate working in university advancement.

3:45-4:15 p.m. — All-Star Panel

This session rejoins all newcomers to answer remaining questions about advancement or the conference. This is an opportunity to ask burning questions.

4:15-5:00 p.m. — Networking

John Lippincott, president of CASE, and Barbara Todd chair of CASE V will address newcomers at this session. A network reception will follow, which all members of the CASE V board of directors and conference committee will attend. This is a great opportunity to build your list of contacts in the advancement profession. You will meet professionals with many years experience in a comfortable setting and find answers to any remaining questions about starting an advancement career.

Registration is easy — space is limited!

Registration materials will be available at the conference registration desk on Level 1 in the River Exhibition Hall Promenade from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009.

Become a member of the 2009 CASE V Conference Team by volunteering during the conference. Volunteers are needed as sessions hosts and staff for the Registration Desk, and the Local Hospitality, and Evaluations areas.
