Especially for those new to advancement Pre-Conference Workshop for Newcomers to the Field of Advancement Saturday, Dec. 12 Noon-5 p.m. Only $150 Includes Saturday lunch! New to the profession? Here's the prerequisite for the CASE V conference and your career! This workshop cross-trains new professionals in all advancement disciplines (alumni relations, development, communications, advancement services, etc.) and provides tools to hit the ground running. Get ready to be charged up for your new career, profession and professional organization! Keynote speaker: Ralph Amos, Assistant Vice Chancellor and Executive Director, UCLA Alumni Association 1:30-2:30 p.m. Nuts and Bolts of Advancement Gain insight from a group of advancement professionals on the value of understanding and embracing the profession as a whole. This interactive session will allow you, as advancement leaders of tomorrow, to explore the intricate and sometimes challenging relationships between the various disciplines. 2:45-3:30 p.m. Breakout Sessions: New to Advancement or New Professional? Pick one of the two areas that best suits you. Discussions will be hosted by leaders in the field. New to Advancement: Have you been in the private sector or another career track at a university or nonprofit? This discussion will answer questions about your new career path. Starting Your New Career: Designed for the recent graduate working in university advancement. 3:45 p.m.-4:15 a.m. All-Star Panel This session rejoins all newcomers to answer remaining questions about advancement or the conference. This is an opportunity to ask burning questions. 4:15-5 p.m. Meet CASE Leadership CASE President, John Lippincott, and CASE V Chair, Barbara Todd will impart their wisdom to wrap up the Newcomers Session. Following their comments, a networking reception will be held which will include members of the CASE V Board of Directors and Conference Planning Committee members. This is a great opportunity to begin to build your list of contacts in the advancement profession and meet professionals with many years experience in a comfortable setting. Additionally, you can find answers to any remaining questions about starting an advancement career. Registration is easy but space is limited! Registration is only $150 and includes materials, lunch and refreshments. You must register for the conference; no on-site registration. Registration is $150 and covers materials, lunch, refreshments. Newcomers workshop participants must be registered for the conference. No on-site registrations will be accepted. Registration materials will be available at the conference registration desk on Level 1 in the River Exhibition Hall Promenade from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009.
