The Power of the 'Ask' - It all Starts and Grows with Powerful Relationships

Ever wonder how some people possess skills that make them shine and stand out? They are able to walk into a room, create a presence, make connections and connect with more donations and gifts and walk away with stronger relationships and advocates. What are the tactics and strategies of "networking" that cause one to stand up and take note or to become engaged whether at a social function or business meeting. In the world marketplace, everyone is seen as a commodity and very often we find ourselves trying to catch up with our competition when it comes to fundraising. This session will focus on the opportunity of implementing the techniques of networking and how to connect, engage and interact with contacts and prospects to create and develop more connections in a positive relationship building way. We will discuss how fundraising is truly first "friend-raising" and how to develop and keep those powerful alliances and connections.

Whether your program is mature or just launching, alumni programs worldwide struggle with varying concerns about relevance. Are we relevant to our campus? Are we relevant to our alumni? If we aren't relevant, what are the consequences? Will your program be marginalized or worse absorbed by resource strapped development operations pressured to hit gigillion dollar targets.
