Converge. Connect. Chicago

Vicki Reaume, 2008 Conference Chair

34th annual conference offers networking, stellar programming.

Dec. 14-16, 2008
Sheraton Chicago Hotel
and Towers

It’s more than the theme for the 34th Annual CASE V Conference. It’s the basis for much of the programming planned for Dec. 14-16, at the Chicago Sheraton Hotel & Towers.

In our field, we continue to see how important it is for those working in alumni, communications/marketing, development and others to converge and work with one another to be the most effective. We’re also seeing how important it is to stay connected in an expanding global network. What better place to do this in the Midwest then in downtown Chicago.

The conference will open with a pre-conference session for those new to the advancement field. For the first time, the newcomers programming will focus on two types of professionals: those just beginning their careers and those who have been working professionally in other areas, but new to the advancement profession. This will allow presenters to tailor portions of the program to each type of newcomer.

The conference kicks off officially with a late afternoon Opening Extravaganza, following sessions in the emphasis areas of advancement services, alumni, communications/marketing, development, executives in advancement, independent schools/two-year colleges and the Web. The Opening Extravaganza will highlight the district’s accomplishments and honored professionals before featuring the very motivational keynote speaker, Ron Clark.

During the conference, sessions will cover a variety of cutting-edge topics. One highlight will be a special focus on campus crises — communication/marketing plans, as well as impact on alumni programming and fundraising. Staff from Northern Illinois University and other campuses with recent tragedies will share how they made it through the crisis and how it continues to impact their work.

The conference has its traditional closing with the Grand Luncheon on Tuesday, featuring the Pride of CASE V awards presentation and marketing expert, Harry Beckwith. Once again, one lucky attendee will win a fabulous overseas trip from Alumni Holidays.

Our entire conference committee has been working very hard and we are looking forward to seeing you in Chicago to converge and connect with us.

Sincerely,
Vicki Reaume
