The CASE V Conference and December in Chicago — A Perfect Pairing!

Lindsey Loftus

Lindsey Loftus, 2005 Conference Chair

The allure of Chicago is always powerful, but never quite like it is during the month of December. Michigan Avenue decorated in lights. Street vendors roasting chestnuts. Shoppers bustling through Water Tower Place. Performances by Victorian carolers. And, the occasional dazzling snowfall. It is an enchanting time to visit the city.

CASE V has always recognized the lure of Chicago and has not hesitated to use its draw to promote our annual conference. But, this year I have to say that all the city's attractions just might take a back-seat to the exciting line-up our 31st conference will offer. I am reenergized as an advancement professional simply by reviewing the descriptions of the nearly 180 sessions and roundtables that will be presented. Just read a few, and I think you will understand why this year's theme is titled Advancement: Everything Matters! There are topics guaranteed to captivate the interest of our newcomers to our most seasoned members. We also have a dynamic keynote speaker planned for our Opening Extravaganza. Award-winning teacher Rafe Esquith will recount his incredible story in "There Are No Shortcuts: Changing the World One Kid at a Time." And if all of this is not enough, The Second City troupe is returning for an encore performance at our Grand Luncheon!

I hope to see you in December!

fitness component new this year!

In keeping with our theme Advancement: Everything Matters, the Conference Committee is introducing a fitness component — Fitness: Everything Matters — to this year's conference. Everybody knows that exercise is good for you physically, but there also is a strong body of evidence to indicate that it provides a mental boost as well. Begin each morning at the CASE V conference with a workout that will help you reduce stress, enhance your ability to relax, lift your self-esteem, and burn those extra calories you have consumed while in Chicago!
