CASE V Opening Extravaganza, which concludes with free wine and beverages
in the Resource Center, head back to the hotel for fun! The Ron
Harris Music Group will entertain CASE V participants from 9:30 -11:30 p.m.
with fabulous, dance music. Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy live music in
the Sheraton Waves Lobby, while networking with CASE V colleagues! Wear

(COE) Fellowship Breakfast

Award nominations sought
The CASE V District Board of Directors seeks nominations
for the COE Outstanding Commitment to Professional Development Award,
which recognizes a district member who has enhanced professional
development and career opportunities for multicultural professionals
in the field. This person’s career should reflect a commitment
to COE’s purpose. To qualify a nominee must meet at least one
of the following:
Sustained and long-term commitment to mentoring multicultural
professionals in advancement careers
Significant track record of recruiting and hiring multicultural
professionals
Encouraged the promotion of multicultural professionals
Developed and supported multicultural initiatives
Nominations should include a letter outlining the candidate’s qualifications,
including examples of meeting the criteria. Nominations are due Nov.
1, 2004. Submit nominations to: Cheryl Stringer, Penn State University,

The Committee on Opportunity and Equity promotes the advancement
of multicultural initiatives to ensure a diverse and safe work environment
for the advancement professional. As professionals in advancement, we
know that all are enriched by the diversity of many voices. This is why
we welcome you to come to the COE breakfast and lend your voice to the
conversation as we work toward renewing a commitment to the mission,
value and vision of COE. In addition, this will also be a special time
to honor one of our colleagues with the 3rd annual Outstanding Commitment
to Professional Development Award as well as introduce the Jupiter Fellowship
recipient. Make plans to join us. Breakfast is available for $20. Due

First, there’s shopping ...
Take advantage of Christmastime in Chicago! From 5-8 p.m. head out to see the
Marshall Field’s windows or walk the Magnificent Mile.
- Shopping on Michigan Avenue — The
Magnificent Mile offers 460 stores in eight city blocks. Beyond the
Chicago favorites like American Girl, Crate & Barrel and Niketown,
choose from delectable restaurants, unique shops and several museums
and galleries to round out your evening on the mile.
- Shopping on State Street — The
landmark State Street Retail Historic District and the surrounding
area in Chicago's Loop are considered by many to be the heart of Chicago's
culture and commerce. Just south of the Chicago River, discover superb
shopping, featuring gigantic flagship department stores like Marshall
Field's, Carson Pirie Scott, Old Navy and Sears.
Then, it’s time for skating, dinner or wine
tasting ...
- Skating & Dining at Millennium Park — Enjoy
an evening of ice-skating in the heart of downtown Chicago. (Skate
rental ranges from $4 to $5.) Then, warm up in The Park Grill restaurant.
The Park Grill is a full-service casual dining experience. The 300-seat
restaurant sits directly beside the McCormick-Tribune Ice Rink, and
features an innovative seating arrangement, allowing diners a full
view of the rink from anywhere inside Park Grill.
- Wine Tasting at Cru Wine Bar, 9-11 p.m. — Join
us after shopping for a chance to mingle and network with your CASE
V colleagues at a wine tasting! Cru Wine Bar is a European style
wine bar located in Chicago’s Gold Coast, close to Michigan
Avenue shopping and restaurants. The $50 package includes a variety
of red, white, and sparkling wines from around the world, as well
as passed hors d'oeuvres for two hours. Beer and soft drinks are
also included in the package. The food items include vegetarian items
such as an international cheese platter or tomato-basil bruschetta,
and other items include tuna tartare, beef tenderloin skewers, and
chicken satay to name a few. $50 per person (includes wine and light
dinner). You must pre-register on the Registration Form. Space is
limited!

for breakfast! John Brown, an experienced consultant in all aspects
of institutional
advancement who owns John Brown Inc., will discuss building teams for
success. He will cover concepts applicable to all areas of advancement.
