Know
Your Brain Game
Why are some teams or organizations more effective than
others? Why are some people more successful in certain situations than
others? How can you improve your innovation and creativity performance?
Discover answers to these and other important questions during the Know
Your Brain Game conference opener, facilitated by Haman, president of SolutionPeople,
founder of the Chicago Thinkubator, and an adjunct professor of innovation
at Northwestern University. Haman, who has set several world-brainstorming records and has studied the brains of thousands of people for over 25 years, started his research early his early career as a concert producer for Grammy-award winning musicians such as Air Supply, Harry Chapin and Cheap Trick. He continued as an award-winning manager at Procter & Gamble and Arthur Anderson and then founded SolutionPeople in 1989. The conference opening session is based on Haman’s experience with over 150Fortune 500 companies and hundreds university relations professionals, administrators, faculty and students. Andrea Renwick, Australia’s Swinburne University, says “The Know Your Brain Game is a powerful learning experience that engages groups from the start and takes them on a big ride to results.” Rob Kozinets, a marketing professor at Northwestern who has often invited Haman as a guest lecturer, says Haman offers unique solutions. “Gerald Haman & SolutionPeople are on the cutting edge of innovation education,” notes Kozinets. “No matter what your problems, his team can find creative and actionable solutions. I highly recommend his Know Your Brain Game!” In an hour, Haman, and his team of “brainiacs” will get the audience engaged in “thinking about how they think” while collecting and trading color-coded brain cards with hundreds of other people. The cards are based on SolutionPeople’s 4Brain Innovation Model and provide the bonus experience of networking with other conference attendees. The “brain profile” is revealed on giant display while energizing brain-related music is played. Haman’s game goes beyond listening, to learning about your brain so you can be more creative and innovative. The 4Brain model is based on Haman’s decades of studying over 100 models of brains and introduces people the four quadrants of the brain that relates to the four roles of highly innovative people: (1) investigators, (2) creators, (3) evaluators, and (4) activators. “Although most people know the brain has two hemispheres, I think it’s important that people know that biologically they actually have four quadrants in the heads,” explains Haman. “I am on a personal mission to help people realize they can and should use their ‘whole’ brains to get ahead. I am especially interested in helping the CASE conference attendees get to know their brains better. What they discover with my opening Brain Game will help them make the most of the entire conference and be more successful at work with alumni, administers, faculty and students.”
