This presentation is based on a chapter written by Neil and Karla for the Jossey-Bass New Directions for Community Colleges series titled "Successful Approaches to Fundraising and Development." Participants will receive information and handouts about grants planning, a proposal development tool kit, a decision-making tool, and roles of successful grants development teams. This session is geared toward individuals with beginning and intermediate experience.

Cipfl, Ph.D., has more than 37 years of administrative and educational experience. He is currently an adviser to the president of McKendree College, and in May 2004 was elected to the National Advisory Board of Scholarship America, the nation's largest nonprofit private-sector scholarship and educational support organization. Prior to joining McKendree in January 2004, Cipfl served seven years as president and chief executive officer of the Illinois Community College Board. Before his service at ICCB, he was president of Southwestern Illinois for nine years and an Illinois public school superintendent for 12 years. Dr. Cipfl will share his insights on the role of leadership in educational institutions.
