Job Search Coaching
Monday 8-9 a.m.
Learn how to get ahead in your job search by joining in a dynamic discussion and coaching session. In this mini-session you will begin to identify your strengths and quantify your accomplishments in order to quickly demonstrate your value to prospective employers. We will also discuss finding an organization that fits your career and personal needs by examining how to identify and articulate your organizational values. In addition, we will help you learn how to coach yourself into action in finding your ideal job.

Preparing For a Job Search
Monday 2-3:15 pm
Join this mini-session to streamline your job search and gain an inside perspective on the best resources, approaches, and processes involved in an effective and successful job search. In this session we will address the following:

  • Resources to identify open positions
  • What to do and what not to do as you are prepare your cover letter and resume
  • Identify and prepare the right types of questions to be asking during the interview process

Career Planning
Tuesday 8-9 a.m.
By spending a few minutes deliberately thinking about and planning for your future career in development and alumni relations, you will gain a confidence and direction that will be a great resource to you and a beneficial guide for you and the organizations you work with. Examine the future of your career by:

  • Define an ideal job description; describe in full detail what you are ultimately looking for in a job
  • Develop a long-term career plan
  • Examine possible career paths in Development and how do I get there
  • Learn how to develop your own career network

E-mail or submit two copies of your resume for "Positions Wanted." Specify clearly the following items:

(a) Position
(b) Type of Institution
(c) Geographical Area you desire.

For example: "Associate Director of Alumni Affairs seeks opportunity at a large university in the Chicagoland area. More than five years of experience and success in designing programs, reaching new audiences, supervising volunteers and managing event budgets. Open to small and large environments and would be available after Jan. 1, 2005."

Blind entries accepted. E-mail or submit two copies of your resume; identify one entry with your name, address, current position, phone number and e-mail address for Career Center use. Indicate whether or not you will be attending the CASE V conference.

 

E-mail or submit five copies of your job announcement for "Positions Available."

For example: “Liberal Arts College in the Midwest (Urban Setting) seeks Associate Director for Annual Giving. Major responsibilities include: building relationships with prospects for gifts up to 20K; oversight of annual alumni solicitation, and goal setting and design of an annual giving plan. Supervises two assistants to implement direct mail and telephone campaigns. Candidates with three to five years of relevant experience, strong presentation skills, demonstrated success in setting and reaching giving goals are encouraged to apply. Submit writing sample with resume."

Blind entries accepted. E-mail or submit five copies of your blind posting; identify one entry with a contact name, institution, address, current position, phone number and e-mail address for Career Center use. Indicate whether or not you will be attending the CASE V conference.
