The Beloit (Wis.) College has 23 conical, linear and animal Indian mounds built between A.D. 700 and 1200. They have been preserved and one, in the form of a turtle, has inspired the symbol of the college. For some they are places of reverence; for others, settings for classes, study and relaxation.
